KIWANIS CLUB of Milford, Iowa

The Milford Club was chartered as one of 7,700 clubs in 80 countries on December 29, 1967. Our motto is "Serving the Children of the World". Our club was sponsored by the Spirit Lake Kiwanians. Our first club President was Lowell Merry. Two of the original charter members are still with the club - George Morris and Virgil Wahlman.

Milford Kiwanis Youth Foundation

Although this is a project of the Milford Kiwanis Club, the foundation is a separate tax exempt organization established  December 17, 1990.  It was founded by a $1,000.00 donation by Richard Schanzenbaker.

The Mission Statement reads:  “To assist worthy individuals, particularly our young people, in attaining educational and vocational excellence, through the expenditure of funds for scholarships and other worthwhile purposes within the geographical area served by the Okoboji Community School District”.

The Foundation is funded by memorial donations  and other gifts.  Memorial cards are available from the Board of Directors.

Currently two $500.00 scholarships from the foundation as well as one $500.00 scholarship from the club are awarded to OHS graduating seniors as follows:  two to students attending a 2 year college or trade program and one to a student (member of the Key Club) attending a 4 year program.
